This post is all about the absolute best candle decoration ideas. If you’re obsessed with candles like me, this article is for you!

Candles on their own are simply beautiful, but sometimes, you want to pair them with other candles or incorporate them with the rest of your home decor.

Luckily, I put together this simple guide on easy ways to level up your candle decor.

I’ll talk about 8 ways to style candles that you can apply to any decor style.

Whether your home is minimalist, boho, rustic, modern, beachy, or something else, these tips will work for you

So, here are 8 candle decor ideas that are sure to impress:

#1: Use Trays

First in my list of candle decoration ideas is to use trays!

This idea also works as a great space-filler. Say you just got a new coffee table and you’re not sure what to put on it.

Find a cute tray and a couple of candles and you’re good to go.

I recommend sticking to a similar color palette and choosing candles and trays with a similar style to keep everything coordinated.

Be sure to fill the tray so it doesn’t look too empty, but don’t overfill it either.

Creating a visually-balanced display is the key.

#2: Stack Them On Top Of Books

If you’re looking to add some dimension to your candle display, stacking some books and placing candles on top of them is a great way to do so.

Be sure to angle your books on top of each other, too! This little tip can make your display look much more professional.

You can use books you already have, or purchase pre-curated coffee table book sets that are bound to look good together since they’ve already been styled.

Books and candles are a winning combination if you want to add a calm and cozy vibe to your living space.

#3: Wooden Beads

Here’s a trend I’ve been loving lately! I’ve been seeing these wooden bead decor pieces all over recently and they’re simply gorgeous.

These work best with boho and rustic decor styles, but depending on the color and material, you can adapt them to work in any space.

So, how do you style these with candles? There are so many ways!

The most obvious way is to wrap the beads around the candle like in the inspiration image above.

If your candle is stacked on top of something, having the beads draped off of that object is a beautiful touch.

If you want to combine this tip with my tip about using trays, another great way to pair wood beads with candles is to wrap the beads around the candles inside of the tray.

The beads act as a fantastic way to fill any extra space within the tray, too.

#4: Use Shelves

Here’s another simple and straightforward candle decoration idea!

Try creating a candle display on shelves around your home.

You can use floating shelves, bookshelves, or hanging shelves like the inspiration image below (this is my favorite way to style candles and shelves together).

For your display, use candles of a similar style or color palette that also match the shelf you’re using.

Another great tip, which I’ll talk about even more in a second, is to use candles of varying heights to add some dimension.

You can also add some dimension with the previously mentioned tip of stacking candles on top of books or trays.

#5: Use Variety: Heights, Colors, Textures, and Shapes

Next, I’ll be talking about variety, which is key to creating an aesthetically pleasing candle arrangement.

So, how do you use this tip? Choose a group of candles that differ slightly from each other.

Maybe you have ones with varying textures or shapes. Maybe your group has different colors within it. Perhaps you’ll choose candles of varying heights.

Imagine a candle display with the same candle used over and over. It’s bound to be flat and boring.

Variety keeps things interesting and visually-appealing!

While you do want to have variety in your arrangement, you also don’t want to have too much variety.

If your candles are completely different from one another, they’ll clash.

So if you want to work with multiple colors, choose a color palette first, like neutral, pastel, or primary colors.

You can easily google color palettes to model your arrangement after if you’re unsure where to start.

#6: Use Mirrors As Trays

Another simple and unique candle decor idea is to basically use a mirror (or any glass surface) as a tray and place your candles on top!

Because the candles will be reflected in the glass, you probably won’t have to fill the extra space quite as much since the reflection gives the illusion of more space being filled.

#7: Cupcake Stands

Yes, you read that right! Another unique candle decor idea is to actually use cupcake displays.

You can essentially decorate these with candles the same way you would place cupcakes on it.

I recommend using some filler objects in between your candles to add some variety and fill the space on your display a bit.

For example, if you’re going for a rustic theme, you can use things like pinecones, fake tree branches, and similar decor pieces as your filler objects.

#8: Candle Stands And Holders

And now for my final candle decoration idea: candle stands.

Super simple and straightforward - find some that match the vibe you’re going for and match your decor theme. Then, place your candles on top!

These are sure to instantly add visual intrigue to your space if your candles are on the simpler side.

Going back to variety again, I suggest choosing a matching set with some height variation to start.

Bonus Tip: Pair Them With A Beautiful Art Print

Placing your candles next to or in front of a piece of art is a beautiful way to tie an area together and make it feel complete!
