So, you’re heading to a ball game!

Between the concessions, music, watching the game, and hanging out with friends and family, going to a baseball game is a ton of fun.

But, there are some things you’ll want to bring with you so you can relax and fully enjoy the game.

In today’s post, I’m answering the question “what do I bring to a baseball game” and sharing 12 essentials you’ll want to bring to the next game you attend.

I’ll also be linking some of my top finds and recommendations for each suggestion to help you make the most of your next baseball game experience.

What To Bring To A Baseball Game: 12 Essentials

#1: Sunglasses

My first recommendation is going to be sunglasses.

Yes, this is important for games during a sunny afternoon, but where sunglasses come in handy the most are during evenings when the sun is on its way down.

This time of day is when you’re going to get the most glare from the sun, and if you’re squinting because the sun is shining right in your eyes, your view of the game will be severely impacted.

#2: Fanny Pack

The next thing you should bring to a baseball game is a fanny pack.

Other small bags will work as well, but in my opinion, fanny packs work best for a couple of reasons.

You’ll want to bring a small bag since most stadiums won’t allow large bags inside.

If you want to make the process of going through security smoother, check your stadium’s website for a list of prohibited items before you leave - and bring a clear bag.

Clear bags are much easier for security guards to search and will make your entry process much faster and easier.

So, why a fanny pack? One simple reason: it’s a bag you can keep conveniently strapped around your waist at all times.

You’ll be around lots of crowds at a baseball game, so why not keep your belongings somewhere safe and in view at all times?

It’s also super convenient to have your essentials on you and within reach at all times, especially if you’re bringing kids with you.

#3: Baseball Cap

Next on what to bring to a baseball game is a classic baseball cap.

Yes, you’ll want to wear a cap to support your team, but this also goes back to why bringing sunglasses are important.

The visor on your hat will help you see the game better when the sun starts to set, and also help keep you cool on hot days.

#4 Sunscreen

Next is sunscreen! The reasons here are pretty obvious.

If you’re going to be spending an extended amount of time outside in broad daylight, even if it’s cloudy out, suns protection is a must.

You don’t necessarily have to bring it with you, but make sure to apply it before you leave for the game.

If you attend games often, it’s certainly not a bad idea to just leave it in your bag so you’ll never forget it.

#5: Reusable Water Bottle

Next is a reusable water bottle. You likely won’t be able to bring it into the stadium already filled, although check the stadium’s website to be sure.

You may be able to bring it in empty and fill it once you’re in, which will save you a few dollars when you’re at the game.

#6: Umbrella

If the forecast calls for rain or cloudiness, an umbrella is a must have.

If not an umbrella, bring some sort of rain jacket or sweatshirt with a hood.

It’s hard to enjoy a baseball game if you’re sitting there getting soaked!

You’ll also be wet and cold, hence the suggestion to bring a rain jacket.

#7: Towel

This one depends on the weather, so check the forecast.

If you’re heading to a game just after it rains or with the possibility of raining, bring a towel to sit on.

There’s no worse feeling than getting to the stadium and finding your chair is wet, and you’ve got nothing to sit on.

You can either embrace having wet pants for the entirety of game or stand.

Then, you remember you’ve got a spare towel in your bag. Problem solved!

#8: Jacket

Next in my list of things to bring to a baseball game is a jacket. Again, the reasons are pretty self-explanatory.

If you’re heading to a game in the evening, in the later months of baseball season, or if the forecast predicts a chilly day, you’ll sure be glad you have a jacket to stay warm at the game.

#9: Blanket

Same thing as with jackets. If it’s cold, why not cozy up with a blanket and enjoy the game?

You can even get a baseball themed blanket to show support for your team!

I found these ones on Etsy that are seriously cool, so if you want to add a blanket to your game day essentials kit, I definitely suggest checking them out.

#10: Portable Phone Charger

Imagine your phone dies at a two or three hour long baseball game. Not a fun position for a baseball fan to be in!

Check your stadium’s website to see if they have phone charging stations, because many do.

But in the chance that they don’t or all of the charging stations are occupied, bringing your own portable phone charger can only benefit you.

If your phone has a USB-C connecter and you’re looking for a charger that’s lightweight (some can be pretty clunky to carry around), I personally use the mini Halo charger and highly recommend it.

It’s very portable and even sticks to the back of your phone, saving space and ensuring you have it on you at all times.

#11: Cash

Imagine you’re craving a hot dog, but concessions are cash only.

You can’t go wrong with bringing some extra cash for snacks and drinks with you the next time you’re at a baseball game.

Most MLB stadiums will accept cards nowadays, but just in case they don’t, cash is always a good idea to bring.

#12: Baseball Glove

This one isn’t really an essential, unless you’re hoping to catch a foul ball as many baseball fans do at games. If you’re one of them, don’t forget your glove!
