Tis’ the season! No, I don’t mean Christmas, I mean football! If you’re heading to a game this season, go all out with a cute face paint design to show your spirit.
And it doesn’t have to just be for football games, too. I’m painting my face for my school’s homecoming hockey game this weekend.
This post is all about easy face paint ideas you can do on game day (especially for homecoming)!
I’m sharing ideas and inspiration for a bunch of different designs, including sparkly ones, asymmetrical ones, floral ones, and more.
I’ll also be sharing some of my favorite face paints I use to recreate these looks on game day. Be sure to save your favorite ideas to Pinterest, and let’s get into it!
#1: White Out Style
One cute style you can use for face painting is an all white look! This is especially perfect for white out games, or if white is one of your school colors.
There are so many different designs you can play around with, but the inspiration photo above is a great place to start.
#2: Dual Color Under Eye Wave
How cute is this next look? I definitely get “ocean” vibes from this design. It looks just like a wave!
If your school mascot/location/colors/etc. have anything to do with the ocean this is a great look to take inspiration from.
#3: Around The Eye Dashes
Next is a popular game day face paint design that’s a personal favorite of mine. These around-the-eye dashes are such a cute and classic look.
For simple designs like this, I would use face crayons like these ones because they’re no mess and super easy to use.
Those are the ones I use for every hockey game at my school! For the dashes, you can alternate with colors/sparkles or do the same color all the way around. Have fun with it!
#4: Letters/Numbers On Cheeks
Want a quick and easy face paint idea for the game? Do something with letters and words!
Some great ideas involving letters/numbers: school name, mascot, school initials, chants, player numbers (perfect for supporting athlete friends and significant others), or phrases like “go [name/mascot].”

#5: Blush Style
Another incredibly simple face paint idea is to do a blush inspired design. The girls in the above photo used pink, but you can do this with any color!
This is a fun and easy look especially for themed games like whiteouts, blackouts, or “wear pink” games.
Definitely use face crayons over regular face paint so you get that cute “powdery” look and not streaks from using paint brushes.
#6: Stars & Stripes
If you’re going to a game where that night’s theme is “USA”, or if your team’s colors are red, white, and blue, going all out with patriotic face paint is a fun way to support your team!
Have fun playing around with different variations of stars, stripes, polka dots, and more.
For more detailed designs like this one, I’d use face paint over face sticks/crayons.
#7: Matching BFF Face Paint
Going to the game with friends? Coordinate your face paint designs to match or complement each other! This is especially fun with a big group but fun with just a few people, too.
#8: Alternating Dashes & Polka Dots
For this next design, use alternating colors to paint lines above and below your eyes.
On the end of each alternating line, paint a polka dot. Perfect if you have two or three school colors!

#9: Polka Dots Galore
For this one, it’s all about the polka dots. A simple polka dot design you can do is a one sided design like in the photo. These types of designs look best with 2-4 colors in them!
#10: Polka Dots & Dashes
Need more ideas for polka dot designs? This is one where you paint a line of dots across your forehead and dashes across your cheeks! Pretty easy to do and definitely a cute look for game day.
#11: Floral Pattern
Love floral designs and patterns? The above design is a great jumping off point for flowery game day face paint.
Depending on how intricate you want your design to be, I’d recommend going with a face paint set over crayons for this idea. The paint will give you more control for those small details!
#12: Simple Dashes
This one is probably the easiest game day face paint idea ever. Perfect for non-artsy folks and anyone in a rush.
The design: two dashes, one on each cheek. They can be different colors, or the same!

#13: Side Sparkles
Don’t want to use paint? Try a simple, sparkly design like this one!
Find some face/body glitter and spread it across the side of your face. You can also add some gems and face stickers for some extra pizazz!
#14: Paw Print Design
This next game day face paint design is perfect for anyone whose team mascot is dog or cat related. Think lions, tigers, wildcats, huskies, bulldogs, etc.
You can do paw prints across your face like the girl in the photo or even just keep it simple with one or two on your cheek.
Use small brushes and paint to get the small details of the paw prints just right!
#15: Gemstones
Did someone say more sparkles? Take the “dashes on cheeks” design, do it using face glitter, and you’ve got yourself a fabulous look for game day!
#17: Asymmetrical Design
This one is adorable. It just might be my favorite on this whole list! I actually used it as inspiration for my homecoming face paint.
I love the idea of the cheek dashes fading from blue to white as well as doing an asymmetrical design that’s different on each side of your face.
