Congrats on your college commitment and here’s how to put together a college bed party (step by step).

Throwing An Insta-Worthy College Bed Party

Step #1: Decorate The Wall Behind Your Bed

Before you start decorating your actual bed, you’ll find it easier to start with the wall behind your bed.

Your wall will act as a cute backdrop for your photo!

Of course, you can take some creative liberty and decorate however you want, but I’d use these three things for my wall: streamers, letter balloons, and regular balloons.

Start by hanging up your streamers, and then hang your letter balloons over them to spell out the name or abbreviation of your college.

Then, use your regular balloons on the sides! (And I think it goes without saying to choose streamers and balloons that match your college colors for a spirited and color coordinated look).

Step #2: Start Decorating Your Bed With Large Items

The next step is to start decorating your bed! I recommend starting with large items first.

These can be things like blankets, sweatshirts, t-shirts, pillows, plushies, towels, banners, more balloons, or even food items like a cake!

Make sure the school name on each item faces wherever you plan on taking your picture from.

This will most likely be the bottom/end of your bed.

And make sure everything is facing the same direction before taking your picture!

If you plan on sitting on your bed for the picture, you might want to leave a blank spot where you plan to pose.

Step #3: Fill In Blank Spots With Smaller Items

Last step! Next, you’ll want to take any small items you plan to include and use them to fill in any blank spots in between the items already on your bed.

Here are some ideas for items to use in this step: tumblers, mugs, small plushies, small food packs, cupcakes, scrunchies, hats, small balloons, candy, bead necklaces, and more.

(Bonus) Step #4: Take Your Picture

You’re finally ready to throw on some college merch and take that perfect picture for social media!

For poses, the easiest thing to do is simply sit or kneel on your bed with all of your decorations around you.

You can also hold up something related to your college, like a banner, plushie, balloon, or even your acceptance letter/booklet.

Outro & Closing Thoughts

There you have it: easy steps for throwing a college bed party and taking a cute photo (or a thousand).

I hope this post helps you out with inspiration for photo ideas, decorations, and setting up the perfect college bed party.

Wishing you the best of luck as you graduate from high school and start college!
