Lovers of both hockey and fashion, this post is for you!
In this article, I’m sharing 10 cute outfit ideas that are perfect for women to wear to a hockey game.
Yes, it’s possible to style your hockey jersey in a way that shows off your team pride and still looks cute.
Most of the outfits in this post feature jerseys and team apparel, but I’ve included a few ideas that don’t include team apparel, so if you don’t own any, I’ve got you covered!
I’ve collected the best outfits inspired by a variety of NHL teams, including the Islanders (my team <3), Blackhawks, Leafs, Rangers, and Sharks.
Of course, you can take these outfit ideas and apply them to any team.
These hockey game outfits are perfect for fall and winter, since that’s when the majority of hockey season takes place.
But there are a couple outfits that work great for warm weather, too, so if you’re attending a playoff game, take note!
Along the way, I’ll be linking some of my favorite fashion pieces to help you recreate these looks for yourself.
So, here are 10 outfits to wear to a hockey game.
Hockey Game Outfit #1:
This first hockey game outfit idea features a team jacket paired with a simple white shirt underneath, blue jeans, and classic white sneakers.
I love how well coordinated this girl’s outfit is!
Everything in her look matches the blue, orange, and white color scheme in support of the New York Islanders.
She even has a cool patch of the old fisherman logo on her jacket.
This is a great look for cool but not cold days because you can easily take your jacket off if you get too hot or keep it on if it’s cooler out.
To recreate this look, some great pieces to have in your closet include a basic white t-shirt, denim bottoms, white tennis shoes, and patches with your team’s colors or logo on them.
Hockey Game Outfit #2:
Next, we’re leaving Long Island and heading over to Manhattan for an outfit inspired by the Islanders’ biggest rivals: the New York Rangers.
If you love casual streetwear type of looks, this is definitely a vibe you’ll love thanks to the ripped jeans and loose top.
For this look, grab a cropped t-shirt from your favorite team and simple white or black long-sleeved hoodie.
Loose, ripped mom jeans pair great with this look, and to finish it off, grab a baseball cap.
For accessories, chunky gold jewelry looks great here! I can definitely see this look paired with hoops and a layered necklace set to finish it off.

Next in my list of outfits to wear to hockey game is this cute look! Denim lovers, this one’s for you.
For this look, grab a denim jacket, sweatshirt, loose jeans, and my favorite part of this look: chunky sneakers featuring your team’s colors.
The yellow and black reminds me of the colors for the Penguins, Bruins, or even the Predators.
To finish off the look, pull your hair back in a high pony using a scrunchie, throw your favorite hand bag over your shoulder and you’re good to go.
Make sure it’s a small bag, though, because many arenas won’t let you in with a large one.

Hockey Game Outfit #4:
Here’s a cute look if you don’t have any team apparel!
Maybe you’re just going to a game for fun and don’t follow hockey, or maybe you just want to show off your personal style.
Either way, if you love this look, grab a super puffy jacket, black turtleneck sweater, and short black boots. Finish off the look with a matching black shoulder bag!
For accessories, I’m loving how sharp the chunky gold hoops and pendant looks paired with the dark top.
This is definitely a great outfit if you’re going to a game in late fall or winter. It’s the perfect combination of style with enough layers to keep you warm!

Hockey Game Outfit #5:
Here’s a cute look inspired by the San Jose Sharks.
For this hockey game ready look, you’ll want to find an oversized t-shirt or jersey from your favorite team and black biker shorts.
For shoes, anything that matches the athletic vibe of this outfit will work fantastic.
You can’t go wrong with white chunky sneakers and Nike crew socks.
Now, for accessories. I feel like gold jewelry has been all the rage lately and while I love that vibe, it’s refreshing to see a look with silver jewelry.
You can finish off this outfit with a silver choker necklace, dangly earrings, or a watch.
I love the white bag in this photo! White goes with any look so if you have something like this laying around it’ll make for a really cute addition to your outfit the next time you’re at a hockey game.
Hockey Game Outfit #6:
Next, we’re heading to Toronto for a look inspired by the Maple Leafs.
This outfit is perfect for warmer weather, so for anyone attending the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this is perfect!
This is a pretty simple look to replicate, too. Grab an oversized jersey, roll up the sleeves just a little bit, and tuck the front into a pair of denim shorts.
For a fashionable upgrade to this look, a pair of platform ankle boots is the way to go.
I’m excited to touch on the accessories you’ll want to recreate this look.
This girl goes with a vibrant shoulder bag that adds a cute pop of color to her outfit and compliments it with gold jewelry and sunglasses.
I love the oversized jersey look! Jerseys are so often sized larger than what we expect them to be, so if yours is a little big on you, you’re not alone.
There are still ways you can style it so it doesn’t completely drown you out, whether that’s rolling up the sleeves, tucking it in, cropping it, or using another method.
Hockey Game Outfit #7:
Here’s another really cute outfit for those who don’t have a jersey or other apparel from their team.
I’m loving the sporty girl vibes this look has! If you love comfy clothes and athleisure, you’ll definitely want to take inspiration from this outfit for your next hockey game.
The main pieces for this look include a crewneck sweatshirt, puffy vest, leggings, and white sneakers paired with Nike crew socks (a classic combination)!
I chose to include this outfit on this list because it’s the perfect combination of comfort and style.
For early season and late season games when it’s not as cold out, an outfit like this works great.
It’s got enough layers to keep you warm but it’s not as heavy as an outfit you’d want to wear to a game in the middle of winter.
When it comes to accessories, a chunky gold chain like this one is a perfect fit for this look! Pair it with matching rings and finish off the look with a trendy handbag.
Hockey Game Outfit #8:
Here’s a look you do want to wear for those mid-season, dead of winter games (unless you’re a fan of the Kings, Coyotes, Panthers, or other team based somewhere winter doesn’t exist).
Inspired by a Chicago Blackhawks fan, this outfit has a super cozy and wintery vibe that I’m loving.
Grab an oversized hockey jersey and pair it with classic black leggings. Simple enough!
The accessories is where this gets fun. You’ll want one of those cute knit beanies with a pom pom on top, chunky knit leg warmers, and a pair of snow boots.
For more wintery vibes, complete the look with earmuffs and a thick winter coat.
I also love the black fringe bag this girl has. It matches the red white and black Chicago colors perfectly and is just cute on its own!
Hockey Game Outfit #9:
For this next hockey game outfit idea, I’m back with another Islanders-inspired look.
Sometimes, simple looks like this one are my favorite!
Get out your hockey jersey, and pair it with simple ripped jeans and white sneakers.
If it’s cold out or if your jersey is big on you, you can layer it with a matching undershirt like this girl does.
I’ve talked about handbags in this post, but now I get to talk about fanny packs!
This girl rocks a simple black fanny pack that in my opinion is the best way to go when heading to a hockey game or any other event that requires you to go through security.
If you don’t have a lot to bring with you, just throw the essentials in a fanny pack and you’re good to go.
It’ll make going through security faster and easier, and your belongings will be much safer strapped around your waist where you can always keep an eye on them.

Hockey Game Outfit #10:
The final look in this post on what to wear to a hockey game is this super aesthetic and trendy outfit.
This outfit balances sporty vibes with a more cozy one and ties it all together with a gorgeous neutral color palette.
The textured fleece exterior of the North Face jacket this girl has on isn’t something I see often but I am so here for it.
She balances the look with a cropped ribbed white mock neck, straight leg jeans and white dad sneakers.
It’s not often I love an outfit with straight leg jeans, but this girl styles it in a smart way by pairing it with a fitted top underneath that balances out the boxy shape of the jacket and jeans.
To finish it off, we have a simple gold chain necklace, dad cap, and nude handbag!
This look is perfect for fall and early winter games when you need to stay warm but want the flexibility of being able to take off your jacket and still look cute if you get hot.
Outro & Closing Thoughts
That wraps up my post on cute outfit ideas for a hockey game.
I love writing articles like this because I get to combine two things I’m passionate about (hockey and fashion) that honestly don’t have a ton of overlap.
I hope you found the perfect outfit inspiration for the next time you’re at a hockey game as well as some cute finds to get the look.

I’ll never forget my first Islanders game at UBS Arena.
Watching a game in person for the first time, getting to do the iconic “yes yes yes” chant with thousands of other fans, and celebrating a 3-0 Isles victory is one of my favorite memories, and I truly can’t wait to go back.
No matter who you root for, I hope you enjoy the next NHL game you’re at and that you get to do it in style!
