Inspiration For Your Aesthetic Photoshoot

#1: City Skyline

My first photo idea is pretty straightforward!

Find a spot in your city where you have an awesome view of the skyline and start shooting. This is one of those photo ideas that’s bound to look good.

Taking pictures at night is always tricky, but the upside here is that you’ll have an amazing backdrop of city lights in your photo.

Daytime skyline pictures are just as aesthetic, too, so try a daytime shoot if you’d rather have photos that are bright, clear, and crisp.

#2: Waterfront

The next photoshoot idea I have for you is to utilize any sort of waterfront in your city.

This can be any sort of river, canal, lake, or even the ocean if you’re on the coast. Waterside photos are great if you want a calming and serene vibe in your photos.

The pose ideas for waterfront shoots are endless!

Some cute ideas to start with can be looking out onto the water or sitting on the ledge.

#3: Sidewalks & City Streets

My next aesthetic photoshoot idea is all about sidewalks!

If you want to really encapsulate a big city feel in your shoot, shooting iconic city scenery like on sidewalks surrounded by tall buildings and lots of people is the way to go.

Some cute photo ideas for this one is to get a picture crossing the street, going in and out of shops, outside of cute cafes, or near some cool architecture.

Another tip is to try to match your outfit to have a similar “vibe” to what you’ll be shooting in front of.

For example, a casual, street-style outfit will look awesome in front of something like a graffiti wall.

If there’s a really cute flower shop you want a picture in front of, try a more traditionally “feminine” outfit with some flowy material or some frills.

#4: Subway & Public Transit

The next idea is to go for an “on the go” theme.

What better way to do that than to incorporate public transportation like subways, trains, and taxis into your photos?

You can get shots walking on and off of the subway, going up the escalator, going in and out of transportation stations, and so on.

These types of photos look especially cute with professional looking outfits like blazers and handbags to really get that “busy, on the go, city girl” feel across.

Some “on the go” pose ideas that work really well are ones that are “in motion.” Try getting some walking or jogging shots!

#5: Looking Up

aesthetic photoshoot

This is a really creative photoshoot idea if you want a picture that really makes a statement.

This angle, where the camera is looking up and you’re looking down, is quite eye-catching and also a great way to highlight your outfit.

This girl uses this technique to show off her bold, orange crop top.

#6: Lighting & Shadows

aesthetic photoshoot

If your photos are coming out flat and boring, a sure fire way to fix that is to play around with interesting shadows and lighting.

Tip: the coolest shadows are always at the beginning or end of the day when the sun is low in the sky.

This is when the shadows are the longest and create the most unique shapes and harsh contrasts.

In this photo, you can see a gorgeous, sharply angled shadow on the wall behind the subject that plays into the textures on her sweater and highlights her face.

#7: Stairs & Escalators

Here’s another scroll stopping photo idea! The concept is simple: find a set of long stairs or escalators and sit right in the middle.

To create the most dramatic effect, you’ll want to angle your camera upwards a little bit to make the stairs/escalator look bigger and more imposing, kind of like the technique in idea number five.

#8: On Your Back

aesthetic photoshoot

If you’re not the most comfortable posing for the camera or looking directly at it, a photo like this might be perfect.

With this pose, all you have to do is lie on your back and have someone (or set a self timer) take a picture from above.

Some cute settings to play around with this pose include on a bed, on a picnic blanket, or on a beach.

#9: Looking Away

aesthetic photoshoot

Speaking of poses that don’t require you to look directly at the camera, here’s another cute one to try.

For this one, you’re simply standing upright, looking away from the camera, and lifting your hand as though you’re fixing your hair or shielding your eyes from the sun.

Your other hand can be casually hanging by your side or holding a prop like a cup of coffee if you feel awkward not doing anything with it.

#10: Unique Angles

When you’ve exhausted your idea list or just want to try something different, try playing around with angles.

The options for this are endless, but above are two aesthetic examples I really love. In the top photo, the camera is placed above the subject, making her feet look tiny in proportion with her head. In the bottom one, the subject is literally upside down!

Cool angles like this are perfect for getting a quirky, playful vibe in your pictures that’s bound to look good on your Instagram feed.

#11: Pose In Front Of Scenery

aesthetic photoshoot

If you’ve got beautiful natural scenery at your disposal, take advantage of it! This one takes barely any work to get an aesthetic photo because Mother Nature does all the work for you.

#12: Flower Shopping

aesthetic photoshoot

Posing in front of flowers is an easy way to elevate the aesthetics of your photoshoot. Flowers are just objectively beautiful! For this idea, try visiting a flower field or a farmer’s market.

#13: Lean Out A Car Window

This is a great photo idea if you’re going for a fun and carefree feel. It’s also ideal if you’re looking for poses that show off your hair!

#15: Besties

If you’re shooting with a friend, here’s a really cute mirror selfie idea! All you guys have to do to recreate this is lay upside down on a bed or couch and hold your phones in front of your faces.

#16: Mirror Selfie

aesthetic photoshoot

You can never go wrong with a classic mirror selfie. A beautiful idea that you can see depicted here is to include part of the mirror frame in your photo.

This adds a gorgeous detail to your photo while framing the subject in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

#17: Golden Hour

aesthetic photoshoot

Want to get that warm, saturated aesthetic? Try shooting at golden hour!

The lighting during this time of day will give you (and your whole photo) a gorgeous glow that’s bound to look amazing on your feed.

#18: Cafe Aesthetic

aesthetic photoshoot

Cafes and coffee shops are such a vibe, and make absolutely adorable sets for a photoshoot. You can have fun capturing the details of cute mugs, latte art, baked goodies, building architecture and more.

#19: Use A Cool Lamp

aesthetic photoshoot

If you’ve got some cool lamps or other unique lighting sources at your disposal, definitely make use of them! They’re a prime opportunity to play around with lighting and give your photos an edge.

#20: Dim Colored Lighting

aesthetic photoshoot

Another stunning photoshoot idea when it comes to lighting is to shoot using dim, colored lights.

The subject in this photo casts some beautiful, dramatic shadows on the wall behind her to help create a moody yet serene feel. To get sharp shadows like this, be sure to stand close to the wall.

#21: Blurry Face

aesthetic photoshoot

For an aura of casual and carefree mystery, try playing around with blurry shots like this one! This is another super creative idea that’ll make your photos stand out in the best way.

#22: Back To Back

aesthetic photoshoot

Here, we have another adorable idea for a besties photoshoot! For this one, you guys will cross your arms, stand back-to-back, and each lift a foot so the bottoms of your feet are touching.

This photographer played around with a cool angle by shooting with the camera looking up at the subjects.

#23: Sniff The Flowers

aesthetic photoshoot

This is a really simple pose you can recreate for a spring and summer photoshoot. All you have to do is grab a flower bouquet (or even just one flower) and sniff them for the camera.

#24: Run Into The Ocean

aesthetic photoshoot

Incorporating water, especially an ocean, is a surefire way to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your photoshoot.

You can capture stunning details like waves, sunsets, the texture of the sand, and so much more.

#25: Feet First

aesthetic photoshoot

To recreate this photo idea, place your camera on the ground and lift your foot towards it - almost as if you’re going to step on it.

This idea is perfect if you want a fun and playful atmosphere in your pictures!

#26: Playful Walk

aesthetic photoshoot

Speaking of playful photoshoot ideas, here’s another one in which the subject happily frolics through a beautiful field!

#27: Pose On A Bench

aesthetic photoshoot

Park benches make for charming photoshoot spots! They’re also super easy to pose with.

For poses, try a simple sitting position with your legs crossed or with both feet up like the girl in the photo.

#28: Quiet Luxury

aesthetic photoshoot

Love the quiet luxury aesthetic? Try using it as the inspiration for your shoot! For outfits, be sure to wear classic pieces and plenty of neutral tones.

Some setting ideas can include an art gallery, coffee shop, museum, garden, or by some pretty architecture.

#29: Hands Blocking Face

aesthetic photoshoot

This cute photo idea is another really easy one to recreate. All you really have to do is hold your hand in front of your face.

For some pretty details, accessorize your hands by doing your nails or by wearing jewelry like rings and bracelets.

#30: The “It’s Bright Out”

aesthetic photoshoot

For a feed-worthy photo that embodies “cool girl” vibes, try shooting in a sunny area with lots of harsh shadows and using your hand to shield your eyes from the sun.

#31: Kneeling

aesthetic photoshoot

Here’s another ridiculously easy pose to try! Simply kneel on something soft like grass, sand, or a picnic blanket and hold a pretty prop in one of your hands.

Prop ideas can include flowers, books, picnic baskets, mugs, hats, and more.
