Decorating Danish Pastel Rooms

#1: Pastel Hues

Before I can into some more specific trends, I have to talk about color!

Of course, to create your perfect danish pastel room, you’ll want to stick with a soft pastel color palette like in the image above.

I absolutely love the subtle lavender with pink, green, and yellow accents this room has. It makes the room feel super friendly and makes for a very aesthetically pleasing space.

Other colors you can include are powder blue, mint, cream or off-white, and even a creamsicle orange.

Colors like these create a calming ambiance, visually expanding the space and allowing natural light to bounce off surfaces for a bright atmosphere.

Below, I’ve pulled some aesthetic pastel color palettes I think would be perfect to base your danish pastel room off of!

#2: Cute Candles

One element of aesthetic rooms that I see all the time and am absolutely obsessed with are candles!

If you take a look at the inspiration images above, you’ll see lots of candles with cute colors and unique shapes.

Try decorating with bubble candles, tapered candles, seashell candles, geometric candles, abstract and wavy candles, and more to add a cozy vibe to your space.

Speaking of cozy vibes, a throw blanket also makes for a super cute and comfy addition to your space.

Candles cast a soft, ethereal glow that highlights the delicate hues of your room. In danish pastel decor, they’re not just sources of light but cherished pieces that contribute to an overall sense of comfort and well-being.

The next danish pastel room idea I’m covering is vine strands.

If you’ve been looking into decor for aesthetic rooms you’ve definitely come across these before.

Vine strands are a super cute way to add some vibrant greenery and life into your room.

The most common way to decorate with this is to line where your wall meets your ceiling all around your room.

You can also have certain parts that drape down for a natural, organic feel.

A really good spot to do this is in the corners of your room! Plus, you can add some string lights for an aesthetic and trendy touch.

Vines are a great place to start if you’re just looking for something quick and easy that will make a big difference in your room decor.

#4: Heart Mirrors

Next, I want to talk about heart mirrors! These are just the cutest little mirrors that add so much cheer into a space.

I’ve seen them most commonly in pink, but I’ve also seen other colors like white and purple as well.

These make for the perfect decor piece for your nightstand, desk, bookshelf, dresser, or anywhere you have a spot to fill.

You can also find ones that hang on your wall if that’s more your style.

#5: Checkered Patterns

Next, I’m touching on a super cute pattern I’ve been everywhere when it comes to aesthetic room decor.

That pattern is of course, checkerboard! I love a simple checkered pattern, but I also love warped and wavy variations of it as well.

Checkered patterns add a delightful sense of playfulness, adding a dynamic element to the otherwise serene and minimalist style.

The pattern gives a timeless charm to any space, reminding me of classic Scandinavian design.

Some cute checkered decor ideas for your room can include rugs, bedding, art prints, throw blankets, furniture, and pillows.

Pick a color palette to match the rest of your room, as well.

Green checkered patterns are super popular right now, as well as pastels like pink and purple.

Some cute checkered accessories you might want to go along with your room style are things like phone cases, mugs, and tote bags.

#6: Art Prints & Wall Hangings

Arguably the most iconic part of this interior design trend is the super aesthetic art prints and wall hangings.

This style uses a lot of soft pastel colors, abstract shapes and patterns, positive quotes and sayings, and organic floral shapes.

Overall, it’s a super cute, happy, and cheerful style and I absolutely love it.

Above are some inspiration images to help you recreate these wall art styles in your own danish pastel room!

Another type of wall hanging I see a lot in this decor trend is records, like in the image below!

This is an adorable way to bring a retro feel to your room.

A classic black works great but you can also find records in cool colors like pink, blue, purple, and others.

When it comes to furniture, you’ll find that the danish pastel room trend commonly uses cute, simple, light furniture with clean lines.

This type of furniture is heavily inspired by the functionality and simplicity of Scandinavian design. Thus, you’ll commonly see white tones featured or light wood such as beech or oak.

The rest of the decor tends to be super busy and colorful, so having some simple furniture really balances everything out quite nicely.

You’ll see what I mean in the inspiration pictures above.

#8: Scalloped Headboard

If you love clean designs but with a flair, something like a scalloped headboard is the perfect thing!

This style of headboard features a gorgeous, eye-catching pattern that lends itself beautifully to a preppy, danish pastel interior.

#9: Trinket Trays

These precious little trinket trays are another decor trend I’ve been loving lately!

They’re super handy for storing and grabbing small essentials when you’re in a hurry, and look beautiful on a dresser, nightstand, or stacked on top of books.

#10: Bookcase Storage

Here’s a super cute idea that merges practically with an aesthetic design.

Simple white storage units like this fit in perfectly with the clean furniture of this decor style. You can make these look so gorgeous by adding pretty pops of color and little decorations in the different compartments.

#11: Squiggly Mirror

This adorable little squiggly mirror is such a trendy and preppy addition to any bedroom.

Plus, you’ll instantly level up your mirror selfies!

The squiggles give such an artsy and creative vibe, and are another unique way to use pretty pastel tones in your space.

#12: Glass Decor

To add an elegant and sophisticated touch to your danish pastel bedroom, utilize some glass decor like candle holders and vases.

The bright colors and fun shapes of these items also give a sene of playfulness and happiness, and who doesn’t want that in their space?

#13: Mushroom Lamp

By now, you’ve probably seen these viral mushroom lamps.

These adorable lights are famous for their super aesthetically pleasing shape and swirly detailing!

These look cute in a variety of places like on a dresser nightstand, bookshelf, or wall shelf.

#14: Cute Shelving Displays

Speaking of shelves, here’s a beautiful example of how you can decorate the ones in your bedroom to fit a danish pastel aesthetic.

These shelves use lot of pretty pink and purple hues, as well as accents like cream and yellow. There’s also some cute greenery to liven up the space!

#15: Clothing Rack

This is such a unique and creative way to show off your favorite clothing pieces.

A super cute (and convenient) idea is to place your clothing rack next to a full length mirror. This way, you can easily plan your OOTDs and try lots of different looks!
