Welcome to a a morning in my life as a college student! I’m Nikki, a third-year student studying a combination of marketing, journalism, and public relations.

Just a note before we start: this isn’t my everyday morning routine. This is what I do before classes when I happen to get up early and actually feel productive.

I’m only human, so that certainly doesn’t happen everyday, and that’s totally okay.

In this post, I’m taking you through my productive college morning routine and sharing exactly how you can start your school day on positive note.

I'll show you how to curate your perfect aesthetic morning - from cute mugs of coffee to skincare to a neatly made bed.

Hopefully this will give you some inspiration for your own productive college morning routine, and let’s get this day started!

Productive College Morning Routine

7:00 A.M. Wake Up

college morning routine

Time to wake up! I don’t have class until either 9:30 or 10 this semester, but I’ve found that getting up at 7 gives me enough time to have a stress-free morning in which I can clean, get ready, eat, and do what I need to do without feeling rushed.

For, me sacrificing a little bit of extra sleep is sometimes worth it - there’s nothing worse than being in a rush in the morning, at least for me!

7:10 A.M. Take Vitamins

I start my days with two simple and easy tasks to ease myself into things. At this time, I’ll take my daily vitamins and give my cat her dental treats.

7:15 A.M. Straighten Up

After I do that, I like to straighten up a little bit. Nothing major - I don’t quite have the time for a full apartment cleaning in the morning, but I like to take care of the little stuff like doing a quick vacuum, putting away dishes, making the bed, clearing my surfaces, etc.

It’s a little cliche, but for me, the phrase “a clear space equals a clear mind” holds true. Plus, leaving for class knowing I have a clean apartment and then coming back to a clean apartment is the best feeling!

7:25 A.M. Coffee & Breakfast

college morning routine

After my mini cleaning session, I’m hungry! Around this time is when I’ll make myself some coffee and have breakfast. I keep this part of my routine nice and simple.

To make coffee, I use a k-pod (I’ve been loving caramel flavored ones recently) and my pearly off-white Keurig coffee maker.

I adore my Keurig, not only for the coffee but it also matches my off-white and bamboo themed kitchen beautifully.

I like to keep breakfast light in the morning, so I’ll grab a strawberry or apple cinnamon flavored breakfast bar to munch on while I’m getting ready.

7:30 A.M. Skincare & Brush Teeth

I like to do just a little bit of skincare everyday! I’m by no means a skincare expert, but I’ll share my routine below.

First, I wash my face using good old fashioned water and a makeup removal wipe to get any excess makeup off my face from the day before.

A couple of times per week, I use an exfoliating scrub to help get rid of any dead skin and blackheads.

Next, I’ll take a face razor and shave above my lips, my unibrow area, and around my eyebrows. I seriously love face razors!

They make removing facial hair quick and easy and they’re gentle on the skin, too. Then, I’ll use my tweezers to remove any eyebrow hairs my razor didn’t pick up.

Finally, I moisturize! The moisturizer I’ve been using lately is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel.

I’ve found that this stuff has really helped to prevent that uncomfortable dry and peeling skin I get every winter. And once I’ve done all that, I brush my teeth.

7:45 A.M. Hair & Makeup

Now that my skin is clean, it’s time for makeup. I’ll take you through my everyday makeup routine below! For my skin, I apply foundation (Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation) and a little bronzer.

Then, I fill in my brows using the e.l.f. instant lift brow pencil, using the little brush on the end to brush them out. To close out my makeup routine, I curl my eyelashes and then apply mascara.

Then, I finish off with a subtle highlighter for a little glow. Some days, I skip mascara and opt for natural-looking eyelash extensions to keep things simple but polished.

Time for hair! Pretty simple - most days, I simply brush it and run a flat iron through it if necessary.

8:15 A.M. Get Dressed

After I’ve done my hair and makeup, I get dressed. Typically, I throw on leggings, a crewneck, and sneakers. Comfy and cozy!

8:20 A.M. Pack My Bag

After getting dressed, I pack my backpack. This means making sure I have my laptop, chargers, water bottle, apartment keys, and my yoga gear if I have yoga class today.

By the way, this is the bag I use to carry my yoga mat to and from class if you’ve been looking for one.

It’s pretty big so it’ll fit other essentials like a water bottle, hair stuff, snacks, etc. Plus, It’s super minimal and pretty!

8:25 A.M. Kitty Care

college morning routine

Once I’ve done that, it’s time for kitty care! At this point in the morning, I complete any tasks related to taking care of my cat, Cece.

This usually consists of changing out her food and water, washing her bowls if necessary, cleaning her litter box, brushing her fur, trimming her claws if it’s been long enough, and of course, playtime. I’ll usually play with Cece until it’s time to leave for class.

Outro & Closing Thoughts

Thank you for stopping by this post on my ideal college morning routine!

Here’s to hoping you found it at least somewhat interesting and inspirational for your own morning routine, haha. Remember that this is just my ideal routine.

Most days, my mornings are a lot more rushed and much messier than this, and I don’t always have time for all of these steps. But when I do have the time, this is typically what I do!
