This post is all about how to recreate this adorable boho reading nook for your home.

Everyone loves a good reading nook! They're the perfect place to curl up and relax - whether you're reading, watching TV, or chatting with a friend.

Sometimes you just want to be comfy but don't want to get back in bed, but your desk or kitchen table isn't comfy enough.

That's where a reading nook comes in! We all need one in our homes and that's why I'm super excited to be sharing this guide on how to create your own boho reading nook.

In this post, I'll be breaking down a boho reading nook setup step by step and discussing the color palette, furniture, texture, and decorations.

I'll also be sharing my top decor finds that best match the look to help you replicate this style as accurately as possible.

I've picked a beautiful inspiration image I found on Pinterest that I think is perfect to base this guide off of and this image is what I’ll be referencing throughout this post:

If you absolutely love this boho reading nook and want to learn how you can recreate it for yourself, keep reading!

Step 1: Choose Your Color Palette

The first step to creating your dream bohemian reading nook is to choose your color palette.

You'll see that our inspiration image uses light, natural, airy colors like rust, cream, tan, sage green, light pink, and white.

If you read my boho decor style guide, you'll remember that I talked a lot about the importance of using nature-inspired colors in any boho interior.

Here's a little snippet from that article that I think is really fitting for this guide as well:

"Boho decor is known for using warm, earthy, color palettes. Colors like these make for a super friendly, warm, and inviting place. The idea is to take inspiration from nature and bring some of those beautiful natural tones into your home."

Our reading nook inspiration for today uses classic boho tones with a lighter feel to them.

I've curated some airy boho color palettes for you to use when designing your own boho reading nook:

Now that you've chosen your color palette, you'll want to begin filling in your reading nook with the largest elements like furniture.

Let's start with the most essential part of any reading nook: your chair!

I found a beautiful round cushioned chair on Amazon that makes a perfect addition to your boho reading nook.

An egg chair is an adorable alternative that’ll also give you that cozy vibe for your reading nook.

This one has so many color options, but I simply adore either the white or cream versions.

The cream one has a warm and airy tone that matches exactly what we're going for in our decor.

The white one is perfect for accessorizing with warmer toned pillows and throw blankets, both of which I'm about to talk about!

Plus, the woven wicker bottom is gorgeous and matches the boho vibe we're going for perfectly.

Every reading nook needs a floor lamp for those cozy evening reading sessions.

Our boho inspiration image uses a clean, classic tall white lamp like this one from Amazon.

I love how simple and invisible this lamp (above) is. It blends right into the wall and doesn’t distract from the other decor pieces around it.

It works beautifully with the light and airy feel of our reading nook!

Now that you've chosen your chair and lamp for your boho reading nook, it's time to fill the space you have left in your corner with some accompanying furniture.

Our inspiration image uses this simple gold round side table from Amazon.

A cute little side table like this one is perfect for placing a warm cup of tea on while you’re relaxing in your giant comfy reading chair!

My next recommendation isn’t technically furniture, but like your chair, side table, and lamp, it acts as a large space filler.

A large floor plant next to your reading chair makes for a gorgeous addition to any boho reading nook!

Referring back to my boho decor style guide again, here’s a little snippet on using elements of nature in a boho interior:

“The most iconic part of boho decor is the inspiration it takes from nature. Whether it’s in the colors, textures, patterns, materials used, or imagery, paying homage to the earth is a huge part of this decor trend.”

What better way to include elements of nature in your boho reading nook than by including plants?

Real plants always look amazing, but if you’re like me and have no idea how to take care of actual plants, fake greenery like this tall plant from Amazon is an ideal alternative.

Step 3: Wall Decor

Now that you’ve set up your furniture and large decor pieces, you’ll want to start on your wall decor.

To help you recreate the boho look in your reading nook, I found some beautiful wall decor you’ll love.

These pieces are sure to make your reading corner look super cozy and trendy!

I’ll also be sharing some tools to help you easily hang everything up.

First, I absolutely love these simple abstract art prints. The light pinks and browns match our boho theme perfectly!

I have some very similar prints in my apartment and I used this double-sided tape to hang them up pretty seamlessly:

Next, I HAVE to talk about these gorgeous hanging shelves!

I have these in my own apartment and as soon as I hung them up, they instantly made my wall look so beautifully styled.

I suggest hanging these up on a diagonal from one another to give your wall decor some dimension and visual intrigue.

The white rope is such a beautiful and unique touch, too! I used these clear suction cup hooks to hang them up and they’ve worked perfectly so far!

The last wall hanging I found for you is a close match to the one in our inspiration image.

This adorable floral macrame wall hanging has a simple and floral style that’s sure to look super pretty in your boho reading nook!

I love how unique this find is. I don’t often see macrame wall hangings with flowers woven right into them!

Step 4: Decorating & Final Touches!

This final step in creating a cozy and aesthetic boho reading nook is the most fun part!

You have your colors, furniture, and wall decor all set, and it’s finally time to finish off the look with some cute decor pieces.

These will be smaller pieces that you’ll want to use to fill those gaps and spaces you have left in your reading nook to make it feel complete.

Here are my top finds for you based off the light, airy, boho style we’re going for in this post.

First, I have a couple of cute things to accessorize your comfy round reading chair with.

This light pink tasseled throw blanket matches the one in the image super well!

The pink color is so pretty but if pink isn’t your style, I recommend getting this in shades of orange, brown, tan, or green.

Styling your throw or blanket also makes a huge difference in your reading nook. There are many different blanket folding techniques you can do to keep your reading area looking neat and tidy!

To compliment the blanket I mentioned before, I found a cute round throw pillow in a matching light pink color! Again, try other boho colors in your chosen palette if pink isn’t your thing.

I love the texture on both this pillow and on the blanket! Floor cushions will also gorgeously complement textures like these.

Boho decor is known for using a lot of beautiful textures that really give a space lots of dimension and layers.

On par with our boho theme, I definitely recommend adding some more greenery to your reading nook.

Hanging plants are just one of many ways to do that. I love the look of hanging plants - they’re always so elegant and pretty!

You can use a fake plant from Amazon like these or you can even use real plants.

Here’s another cute little fake plant I found! I love the rope planter - it’s so simple yet so cozy.

I suggest placing this plant either on one of your hanging shelves or on your side table. I love how this is styled on a stack of books, too. Very fitting for a reading nook!

My final decor find is a candle. I found this super pretty, minimal candle on Amazon that fits very well within our decor theme.

I also love the label because it’s a perfect message for a reading nook.

Candles are another decor piece that’s perfect to place on your hanging shelves or on your side table in combination with other decorations like plants, books, trinket trays, coasters, and more.

The whole point of a reading nook is to have a cozy spot to relax and unwind in.

What better way to do that than to light a candle, breathe in a relaxing scent, and unwind with a good book?
