Best Things To Do Near KeyBank Center Before A Sabres Game! (Buffalo, NY)
Headed to a Buffalo Sabres game?
While you’re in town, don’t miss out on some of downtown Buffalo’s best when it comes to things to see, eat, and do.
That’s what today’s post is all about! I’ll be taking you through a fun day itinerary in Buffalo before heading to a Sabres game in the evening.
For this trip, we’ll be staying in the downtown core, making this itinerary extremely walkable.
We’ll start in the hip neighborhood of Allentown, make our way over to the beautiful waterfront, and eventually over to KeyBank Center for the game.
Best Things To Do Near KeyBank Center
Morning: Explore Allentown & Grab Brunch/Lunch
Start your day downtown by exploring Buffalo’s artsiest neighborhood: Allentown.
A walkable neighborhood home known for its unique galleries, pubs, shops, cafes, and restaurants, this is a great little spot to walk around and grab some breakfast, lunch or brunch while you’re here.

Late Morning/Afternoon: Go Ice Skating At Canalside
From Allentown, head over to The Ice At Canalside for an activity fitting for hockey game day: ice skating!
Skating at Canalside is an awesome experience thanks to being surrounded by several bridges and the Buffalo skyline.
It truly makes for a unique and enjoyable atmosphere complemented by a gorgeous view as you skate.
If there’s no ice skating going on due to it being out of season, you’ve still got some great options for things to do at Canalside, besides taking a stroll along the waterfront of course.
Check out Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park if you’re in the mood to tour some WWII era military ships, or see what other activities are going on by the waterfront on the website.
If not ice skating, there’s a good chance roller skating will be available instead!

Afternoon: Eat Dinner at Buffalo RiverWorks
After all that ice skating, it’s probably time for some food before you head to the Sabres game.
Unless you plan on eating dinner at the arena, my pick for tonight’s dinner is going to be Buffalo RiverWorks.
Buffalo RiverWorks is an entertainment destination that consists of a restaurant, adventure park, brewery, seasonal fairgrounds, and hosts fun events like concerts, sporting events, and other community gatherings.
Whether you go for the food or for something else, you’ll be treated to some fantastic views of the water while enjoying a fun atmosphere.
This is definitely a place with something for everyone - kids and adults alike!

Game time! From Buffalo RiverWorks, you don’t have very far to walk to get to KeyBank Center, which also sits at a beautiful waterfront location.
Have a great time at the game, and let’s go Buffalo!
