Best Things To Do Near Sahlen Field Before A Bisons Baseball Game! (Buffalo, NY)

Heading to Buffalo, NY for a Bisons game? You’re in for a good time!

This post is all about things to do in downtown Buffalo, NY while you’re in town for a Bisons game.

This is the perfect itinerary for spending the day in the downtown core before you head to the game in the evening!

I’ll take you through some of the best places to eat, things to see, and activities to do in downtown Buffalo, NY.

Whether you’re just visiting or you’re a local, I hope this helps you have a great time on game day.

The locations mentioned in this post are all within walking distance of one another, so you don’t need a car to follow this itinerary.

That includes being walking distance to Sahlen Field, where the Bisons play.

I live in nearby Rochester and Buffalo has become one of my favorite weekend getaways.

I’m excited to share some of my favorite spots in the city in this post!

Best Things To Do Near Sahlen Field In Buffalo, NY

Late Morning: Have Brunch/Lunch At Wonder Coffeehouse

Known for their delectable and elaborate waffles that honestly belong in an art museum, Wonder Coffeehouse is the perfect place to start your day in downtown Buffalo.

Enjoy brunch options like chicken and waffles, egg & bacon waffle combos, lattes, and more, right by the waterfront.

Truly one of my favorite eats in all of Buffalo!

Morning/Afternoon: Explore Canalside & Nearby Attractions

Once you’re full from waffles and coffee, I recommend taking some time to explore the Buffalo waterfront.

That can mean anything from taking a leisurely stroll along the water, or checking out other attractions and events happening at Canalside.

My favorite of those attractions? You can’t go wrong with checking out the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, especially if you like history.

Even if you don’t, the park is a really cool way to spend a couple of hours and see WWII era naval ships up close. You have options for self guided and formal tours, as well!

While you’re at Canalside, be on the look out for any other events going on.

Summer on the waterfront features a whole host of activities like concerts, paddle boats, and festivals that are perfect for spending a few hours before heading to the next spot in this itinerary.

Afternoon: Grab Dinner At Southern Tier Brewery Buffalo or Pearl Street Grill & Brewery

If you plan on eating at the Bisons game, you can probably skip this part and head right to the ballpark.

But if you’re hungry again, I have two fantastic recommendations for lunch/dinner spots (right by Sahlen field).

First is Southern Tier Brewery Buffalo. If you’re ever in the area and looking for a good spot to watch a game, this is where you go.

Awesome atmosphere, gigantic TV screens, good food. What more could you ask for?

For somewhere a little more low key with some gorgeous outdoor seating, check out Pearl Street Grill & Brewery.

The building itself is beautiful and it makes for an awesome atmosphere for eating out.

You’ve got all the classic food and beverage options - sandwiches, pizza, burgers, salad, cocktails, etc.

If you’re ever hungry in Buffalo and it’s around sunset, sit outside and enjoy the view.

Evening: Head To The Game

Who’s ready for a ball game?

I hope you are, because it’s time to head over to Sahlen Field and cheer on the Buffalo Bisons.

The field is super close to each location mentioned in this post, so you won’t have to walk very far if you’re already downtown. Enjoy the game!
